The full moon illuminates the alleyway designated for apparition. They’ve never reached this far together so Hermione is unsure of what to do. Does she owe him a goodbye? A thank you for recommending the drink? Or does she apparate to her flat without another word?
“My wife wears a necklace just like that.” His breathless whisper floats between them.
“My husband has cufflinks just like those.” She responds.
He turns his stare from the stars to her. “I know,” he says, before disapparating.
His eyes never leave her thoughts that night, and she can’t help but think: she’s never seen Draco Malfoy so broken.
