“Listen, Granger.” Draco tossed an apple in the air and caught it with a satisfying smack. “If you want me to take you to the Gala, just ask.”

“I don’t need a date, thank you.”

The apple paused halfway to Draco’s mouth. “Stepping out on me with someone else? Quite rude of you to not take the man you love.”

“One of us is in love with you,” said Hermione agreeably. “But it’s not me.”
